Accessibility statement

Everyone should be able to read, hear and navigate this magazine.

Scope

This statement applies to blog.weltamdraht.org in its German and English versions.

Legal framework

As we understand it, a privately run magazine without sales or paid services is not subject to the obligations of the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG). We publish this statement voluntarily, based on the structure of BITV 2.0 and EN 301 549. Our target is WCAG 2.2 level AA. This page is not legal advice.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. No external audit report is available yet.

What is implemented

  • Skip link to the main content, visible focus indicators and full keyboard operation.
  • Semantic landmarks, a consistent heading hierarchy and language markup for German and English.
  • Tap targets of at least 44 px and respect for the “reduce motion” system setting.
  • Light and dark colour scheme, following the system preference by default.
  • Adjustable text size and line spacing in articles, stored only in your browser.
  • Alternative texts and image credits for all images.
  • Video with captions and a full, clickable transcript.
  • Code blocks with line numbers, horizontal scrolling and a copy button.
  • External content only after explicit consent (two-click solution).

Known limitations

  • No review by an external body or by users of assistive technologies has taken place yet.
  • Content is not offered in Easy Read or sign language.
  • Embedded third-party content (e.g. the map) is outside our control once loaded.
  • Text within cover images or montages is not machine-readable; alternative texts describe the images.
  • Not every piece is available in both languages.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 02/11/2026 as a self-assessment using automated and manual browser checks.

Feedback and contact

If you encounter barriers, we want to know. The contact details have intentionally not been invented; they will be added by the publisher before this site goes live.

Enforcement

Where the BFSG applies, the joint market surveillance authority of the German federal states (MLBF) is responsible. For public bodies of the federal government, the arbitration board under § 16 BGG is available. Both apply to this site only insofar as it falls within their legal scope.
